The mission in Ivory Coast will last two weeks. One week of mission work in a village and about five days for rest & site seeing. 

Daily activities during the mission in the village include visiting families in their homes, catechesis with children, simple home repairs & First Aid skills.

You will experience a whole new world! Ivory Coast life is centered around the village & the family. 

They love community, laughter, simple food and dancing. 

Beside the week in the village, missionaries will have time to tour Abidjan: the zoo, botanical gardens, & boat ride as well as visit the National Basilica which is the largest dome in the world!

Come to the Ivory Coast!

Deacon Dain, a Legionary who regularly visits the Ivory Coast, shares how to prepare for a mission in Africa.

No, the mission leadership team speaks French and will be able to serve as translators. The people from the local village will speak their native dialect. On this mission, you will be encouraged to speak the language of the heart. 


During the entire time in Abidjan, the missionaries will be staying at Catholic retreat centers. This will allow for personal and group time in the morning and evenings to discuss, plan and evaluate the mission. 


  • Ivory Coast in general is a very safe and peaceful country.
  •  The food is different than American food and very clean. Bottled water will be provided.
  • The yellow fever vaccine is required for anyone entering the country and all missionaries will need to get theirs at least two weeks prior to the mission start date. 
  • It is recommended to bring bug repellent & Atovaquone/proguanil (Malarone) to prevent malaria. 
  • COVID has affected 13% of the population & cases are decreasing.
